TAKE IT OUTSIDE:

FIRE, FRIENDS, COCKTAILS, KEBABS, AND S’MORES—
DAVID’S TIPS ON HOW TO ENTERTAIN OUTSIDE

Outdoor entertaining is one of my favorite things to do when I’m with friends and family. And what could be more relaxing than a gorgeous fire with some delicious food and drinks? Can’t you just picture it? Your friends and family all circled around the fire pit, sipping cocktails, music in the background, laughter and stories. I can just feel the moment already. My darlings, your party is underway. But, as with any dinner party, the way to create the perfect evening starts with planning.

HAPPY HOUR—DAVID’S WAY

Make a special drink that’s simple and effortless to prepare. Choose something easy to refill when the time is right—because really, you don’t want to go running inside every time a guest needs to refresh their glass. How about delicious Sangria with lots of delectable fresh fruits for your evening cocktail? My ultimate fave is white sangria that isn’t too sweet. I always love adding sweetness with fresh fruits as opposed to added sugar. Pour yourself a glass and enjoy with friends.

ADD SOME DRAMA TO YOUR SHWARMA

You know what makes a great dinner party? Engage your guests in the
cooking. Kebabs, or schwarma, are the perfect gathering food for guests.
Use large sprigs from a rosemary plant or some pre-soaked bamboo as spears.
How about Asian glazed chicken tenders perhaps? Maybe go Greek and add oregano, lemon and olive oil.

When your guests get hungry, grab that tray of kebabs and let your guests each grill to taste. Want to add some extra flavor? Place pineapple chunks at the top and bottom of the skewers. Don’t forget your vegetarian friends. Arrange a delicious platter of grilled seasonal veggies.

AND FOR DESSERT, WHAT SAYS
“OUTDOORS” MORE THAN S’MORES BY THE FIRE?
Hobnob Planter

Want to show off your marshmallow roasting skills? Have your guests grill their own to their preferred oozy deliciousness. And remember my favorite rule, presentation is a must! Don’t bring out plastic bags of marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate bars. Not at my party and not at yours. Make each moment something your guests will remember.

Hobnob Planter with Lid

Create a tablescape dessert moment with some oversized vases, add tall sticks, and top with jumbo marshmallows for a towering, dramatic moment.

Your guests will love the display and will love making their own personal fire-roasted dessert. When the time comes, have the graham crackers and chocolate squares all arranged on a platter ready for the roasted marshmallows. Your guests will all love the chewy, chocolate goodness that will surely bring them back to the best of summertime and childhood memories.
