Expandable Coat Rack 4.7 5 166 177
It serves the need Problem: New house with a tiny coat closet that only holds our stuff. Solution: The Expandable Coat Rack (purchased in white) is handling the need of where to place guest coats... other than on a bed. I like the fact it is attractive on its own, and has garnered compliments, as well as flexible to accommodate the available wall space. No difficulty in hanging, as we followed the suggestion of another reviewer, and attached the two bottom screws first, getting them level. We followed by marking the top position, then attaching there last. Doing the bottom first 'sets' the desired spacing. Otherwise, you can end up juggling the accordion action of the rack. Also, take into account the final position of the actual screw in the slot on the rack. The slot is angled, and you need to pull the wall rack down to secure the screw into the slot. Overall, not the easiest to hang, without giving it some thought. But definitely worth the price and the ultimate convenience! March 18, 2014
Beautiful Coat Rack Beautiful and durable piece. Looks great in laundry room, as I use it as a drying rack for delicates. August 26, 2014
I love my Expandable Coat Rack I needed a coat rack or Hall Tree but only had so much space. This expands to the size that you need it to be. Loving it. August 25, 2014
okay Love the design. Ordered it in white the finish is not great and the wood shows at the edges August 14, 2014
The best! I've been looking for a nice coat rack for a few months and this one was the best looking of all. It was a bit of a challenge to install it, we drilled the 3 holes after a lot of measurement, and sure enough one of them was totally wrong (approx 1 inch off#. Drilled another one and now it sits on the wall perfectly. The secret is, after you take the measurements, ONLY drill 2 holes #the one at the top and another one at the bottom#, install the hardware, and hang the coat rack on them, THEN you can mark on the wall the right place for the third hole.....you can't go wrong if you do that. Some people installed the two at the bottom first, but then you can't hang the rack freely, without having to hold the top of it, until another person drills and installs the third one. We're very happy with our choice, the wood has a very nice finish #we got the espresso), it doesn't have un-painted areas like some of the other reviewers complained about. Also, some people say it's too flimsy, too weak to hold heavy winter coats. We have constantly had 4 of them in the winter time and it didn't show signs of falling off the wall. I just love it! Excellent Quality We are very pleased with the quality of this coat rack. We purchased it in addition to the Chelsea storage bench, and both pieces are just fabulous. The coat rack is easy to maneuver, so you can extend it out in length, or raise it in height depending on your individual space circumstances. Would absolutely recommend this to all. July 11, 2014
Pretty but horrible to hang I read the reviews and drew a template before we tried to hang it. Because of the construction it was difficult to determine where the holes should be drilled in the wall. We measured, used a level and finally decided where to drill. After getting it partly hung, we had to drill a second hole. Finally got it up but it was not an easy task. A template that you could hang, level and use for the holes would be so simple, but unfortunately is not included. April 24, 2014
Very nice but... they really should have provided a paper template for hanging. The limited instructions show drilling holes for the wall anchors (no drill bit size given) and setting in the screws. That's it. It is near impossible to judge where the drill holes should be when placing it up against the wall. So you're stuck making your own template. I'd suggest using the back of wrapping paper since you need a really large sheet of paper. If you're willing to wing it a bit you could wedge crayon pieces into the mounting brackets and gently tap the rack against the wall at your desired location. However, if your crayon isn't 90 degrees perpendicular to the wall, you could be patching a few holes. It does look nice once it's hung. I'd also suggest placing thin felt pads along the back edges. The black paint marks the walls and despite our best efforts to tighten the screws fully, one corner still rattles slightly. The felt pad fixed that problem too. December 14, 2011

How small will this collapse?

I am wondering how small you can collapse this and still have a usable rack. My wall space is 22 inches wide...will this product work for a space that size? I notice the description says it will adjust indefinitely, but the listed width is 28.5 inches on the smallest side.
