About Our Giclee Prints

The term "Giclee" (jhee-clay) refers to a process of shooting millions of ink droplets per second through the microscopic nozzles of a professional-grade inkjet printer for a seamless, smooth-tone print. With our Giclee printing, the original image is first scanned with a high-resolution drum scanner and the resulting digital image is then sent directly to the inkjet printer. The print resolution is actually greater than traditional lithography, which results in crisp contrast and rich, intense color.

The art of Giclee printmaking involves knowing how to interpret an image and create the optimum color and density ink formulas for optimal results (i.e., a print most similar to the original). The printmaker calculates the exact hue, value, and density as he directs the ink sprayed onto the paper. Our advanced inkjet printer is driven by special software to produce variable-sized ink droplets as small as 3.5 picoliters (a trillionth of a liter). Proprietary technology precisely controls the curvature of every ink droplet within each nozzle before releasing it onto the paper. The result is extremely sharp and accurate placement of ink droplets for a smooth tone output and outstanding photographic image quality.
