Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it I bought two of these beautiful Gates for my living room, and couldn't be more happy and satisfied. Even though they're light material (for hanging purposes) they look like they're made out of heavy wood and cast iron. These art pieces brought life to my space and get complements on them all the time!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Purchase I was debating on ordering this but decided to go ahead and make the purchase. So glad I did! The gate's appearance and dimensions were as described. It fits perfectly in my space and is as rustic as I hoped it would be. Great addition to my room.

Can this be used outdoors?

Want to use as shudders on either side of a window.
Asked by: Anonymous
This is a decorative wall hanging and not a construction grade wood for outdoor use. It is lightweight for hanging and would not withstand harsh weather conditions.

Is the color of the wood black or dark brown?

Online, it appears brown while the catalog appears more black.
Asked by: Anonymous
The gate is black but the metalwork is brown. I use both in my decorating and it fits in very nicely!

What are the dimensions for the actual iron work itself?

I am planning on cutting off the bottom of the door and just using the iron panel
Asked by: Anonymous
The open work metal panels are 451/2" x 17" and are aluminum, painted black with a bit of polychrome finish. they look very, very realistic from a distance, but are a bit under-scale, looking at them up close. I have done a bit of wood butchery and mounted two of them side by side to appear as a pair to cover some air conditioning vents. .

Does this gate have a small shelf on top? if so how wide is it?

By looking at the photos it looks like it also has a top shelf of a couple inches is that true or false? It would be great to be able to add some vintage narrow items on it giving it a really 3D effect! Thanks donna

No. If you picture a garden gate, the top is usually a bit more finished than the bottom. At best, it's perhaps an inch or so wider than the other horizontal pieces of wood. Doubt you would be happy with anything poised on top; to display fine glass bottles or something to that effect, I would suggest an "antiqued" shelf elsewhere in the room preferably one that catches the sunlight.
