Works Like a charm and LOUD!
I noticed other reviews said it was small- but we read the dimensions and felt it would work. Love that you can hang AND it comes with a stand, too. For actual Halloween we added wire and hung it from our post-- It worked well and you could hear it really well.

I received the phone, but the phone receiver makes a squeaking noise when it moves that is louder than the voice on the phone. Is this expected? I'm wondering if I exchange it if it will be any better, or if they are all like that.

How do you change the batteries?
There is a small screw holding the battery compartment closed. Just open it up with a screwdriver and change the batteries.
