Animated Flying Bat is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from It may work well, but it's motor is not quiet Just received this after buying after the holiday and tried the mechanism with batteries. First problem is that the electronics do not stop the wing roots on body in the downbeat position so you can attach the wings. It's the only position you can do this. I was able to finagle this motor to that position by adding the batteries and turning on device and quickly pulling out one battery as the wingroots reached downbeat position. This allowed me to attach these huge wings and then hang onto its tether to get a look at it in action once I reinstalled batteries and screwed compartment closed. That's when I noted the fairly loud gear noise. Seems a robust gearing for the electric motor and it does not falter in moving these large wings, but noise is enough to distract from the BIG scary flying bat effect, I'm afraid. I do not know how long batteries will last with such efforts to move such large wings. To remove wings, I had to employ the same workabout above because the electronics are NOT devised to stop function in downbeat but, rather, in UPbeat! Duh. Good for show, but not for disassembly! They should have a three way switch where one position is off and one 'sound activated' and one 'off/wings parked' which would be the downbeat position. Also, I'm not sure how effective the sensitivity to sound activation this will have or how often it will cycle or how long each activation cycle lasts. I'll find that out next Halloween! I DO like the device - the size and the detail of construction of the body and wings and the, seemingly, robust electric motor. I WILL probably use this outdoors in our scary front yard out (out o the wind). So, Happy Halloweening, as long as you can use this assembly/disassembly workaround suggestion to your satisfaction! Otherwise, you'll have this 'hanging around' somewhere all year!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So fun! Everyone loved how good these looked and then when they "flew" and made noises, everyone shrieked with laughter and screams, just depending on their feelings about bats. They are HUGE! So we hung 3 of them from lower tree branches over our graveyard setting and close to where trick or treaters walked up. We asked some kids to applaud loudly for their candy and these bats went crazy with their light up eyes, screeching and flying. I would only put them outside on the day of Halloween due to their mechanical nature and their bodies fur covering. They would be great inside if you have at least 6 foot circular clearance from hitting anything because they do swing a lot when they fly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Halloween Jewel! This bat was one of the highlights of our display. Sensitive enough to move on low sounds and small movements which made it great! Definitely exceeded expectations.

Anyone know how to dismantle the wings for storage?

I am afraid to break the wings if I try to hard and connot locate any release switch. Comments appreciated. Thanks.

See my product comment just posted in which I detailed how to do this. It IS a failing in the design. DO be careful - do NOT force wings off. If you can get them to stop in the DOWNbeat, they slide off easily! This item is worth this bit of trouble for the workaround for dismantling it! Hope this helps!
