Faux Boxwood Garden Dog, Casey is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 131.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love him!! I LOVE Casey!! He is adorable and so unique!! As suggested by other reviewers,I moved his legs out a bit and haven’t had any problems with him toppling over.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a hit! Everyone loves this dog! Its so cute! We have him by the front door to greet our guests. Our plan is to decorate with a scarf of the season. Today he's decked out with a red and green plaid. A big red bow and lights too! If you pull the front legs out to the side a bit it's more stable. We also have a hook stake in each front foot just in case.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Darn Cute!!! This dog is fun and will be even better with tiny lights for a grand entrance! Already the talk of the courtyard...only needs the perfect name.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great addition to my porch but a little unstable Looks terrific! But seems to fall over a lot... not very stable

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This dog sheds too Renamed him Norman the Doorman because he is so regal. Overall, this guy is a statement piece! I have had him outdoors for almost 3 years on a covered patio. His color has faded slightly but the problem is that he unravels and sheds. I was able to fix most of the unraveling with u-shaped craft pins and gorilla glue but the shedding still occurs. With that being said, this guy is just as cute in person as it is in photos and I still want to buy more from this collection. Given the short lived nature from a lot of commenters, Grandin Road should lower the pricing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cute but fragile I agree that it is adorable and a perfect replica of our late golden doodle. I did spray it with gorilla glue adhesive spray, and then scotch craft protectant spray, in the hopes of it lasting. I’ll probably continue to respray every so often and hoping for the best! One star deducted because I could already see how easy it will be for it to unravel.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cute but fragile Received many compliments from neighbors. Put on front porch late Spring through Summer. Held up well through weather elements (porch gets partial sun light). But did start to come unraveled when I moved it. Had to glue greenery back on to form. Midwest weather, stored it for Fall & Winter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cute dog with lots of compliments Love this dog. It’s so cute on my front porch. Only negative is the greenery has a tendency of coming off but you can reattach with pins.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from cute garden ornament Casey the garden dog is very cute and lifelike, however he wouldn't sit upright without falling forward, until I angled his front legs a little wider. Also, one of the front legs looks skinner than the other. Other than that, he's super cute.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I wish you would stand I just received Casey 2 days ago, I love the look and how tall she is, but she will not stand for me. I am going to have to find something to help her stand.... she is so lovely, I want to keep her, but she needs help...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super cute! It was a little off balance when I received it so had to straighten it out which was kind of annoying but looks really cute and have gotten a lot of compliments. I added a collar and it looks really good.
Date published: 2018-05-04
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Casey's short front legs I was disappointed Casey's front legs were so short. For him to sit up, he is really bent over low. There is no way he sits tall like the picture displays.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Unraveling issues. Definitely a novelty item. The shape/design is fun, however the actual product isn't well made. I purchased other similar items within the faux shrub in dog shapes from this group and the problem of unraveling plastic greenery is the same on all of them as it was on this dog. Product problem right out of the box.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not high quality This is cute, but for the money I was expecting it to be higher quality. It has a lot of gaps in the green plastic material. I like it, just thought it would have been better quality for the price.
Date published: 2021-06-18
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Do not put in sun light ! Do not put in any sunlight! It will fade and fall apart! The sun will melt the glue and pieces come off.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Short-lived Showstopper I bought Casey almost two years ago and agree with most of the reviewers. The coloring has faded and he has lots of bald spots. In fairness, he was not placed under a covered porch and had protection only along the back side; nor did I attempt to bring him indoors during our mid-Atlantic winters. I also ended up inserting a 6 foot stake (through the shoulder blades and between the front paws, as well as anchor stakes over each rear paw (the u-shaped stakes used for tents) which worked well. After all this I am grudgingly buying him again because he’s so darn cute. But I do wish he’d held out a bit longer.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Loved Casey BUT he is not weather-resistant! Casey is brittle and falling apart after just 9 months in the Florida sun. Someone just told me I should have sprayed him with Scotchguard to preserve him. Wish I had known!
Date published: 2019-05-02
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Adorable --for about a year Purchased about a year ago -- left outside. Now there are multiple strands of topiary that are loose -- color fades quickly as well. Would purchase again if it goes on super sale.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Love the dog! I bought this a couple of weeks ago and love him! The only thing is the faux boxwood looks really faded. I just bought Moxie and she is a darker green as a boxwood bush would be. So sitting side by side they are two different colors, which looks odd. For the cost the color should be much better quality.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Loved this bit of whimsy until it began to deteriorate. I had planned to get another one, but too expensive for short term pleasure.
Date published: 2018-12-08
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Love the look but it's going back This looks well made and I love it but Casey is too top heavy. He falls over in a breeze and even my dog can knock him over just walking by. I don't see any way to add weight to this. Heads up to the manufacturer...you have to make this more stable. I love the idea but will be returning.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Loved the first one… this one poor qualy I bought this dog years ago and was great. After years outside I bought a second one because I loved it so much. The new one is falling apart… so dust!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Large and pretty color Sadly, this “Casey” dog was very unstable and would not stand up well. His head was much too heavy and his front legs were set too far back. I’m returning which is sad because I have wanted this dog for 3 years.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from If you like cheap junk, you'll love Casey Purchased two Casey's 3 years ago and they were perfect. Tried to replace them this year due to weathering, and Grandin Road sent me cheap junk for an outrageous price. Returned them via UPS. Will try again in a year or so hoping they will have a new manufacturer.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Overall Disappointing I just received Casey, and on the plus side, he is huge - probably the size of a Great Dane sitting up! However on the negative side, the bottom and paws are way out of proportion to the rest of the dog, making it difficult to get him to stay upright. Some of the greenery was unraveling upon receipt, which I was able to fix. I have a sinking feeling that this item won’t last long enough to justify the cost.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cute Decoration, Poor Quality/Design Casey, the topiary boxwood dog is a super cute addition to my front porch, though I am disappointed in the overall quality of the product, and expect better from Grandinroad. The topiary is very top/front heavy and falls over frequently, even without wind blowing, which causes pieces to break off. It’s easy enough to stick the pieces back together, but not really the point. I’ve only had my topiary dog out for about a month, and it is only exposed to early morning sun. Already it is rapidly fading. Overall, very cute decoration, but I wish the quality matched the price tag (I even got mine on sale). I’ve had the smaller topiary dog, Moxie, for a few years, and Moxie has held up much better.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Only survived a few years… I purchased Casey & Moxie, they are really cute! Enjoyed them both for years, unit this past hot, hot summer, totally falling apart. The heat destroyed the greenery, and now I have two shedding dogs. They weren’t in the sun, but they were in the heat. For the price, I was disappointed that they basically melted. If the weather is going to be over 100 degrees, they should be moved in doors, too late for my guys…

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Looked great for only a short time… I loved this pup! I got lots of nice comments and had fun changing out the triangle of fabric I had wrapped around her neck. But unfortunately it started to shed pretty quickly and was soon unusable. I had to throw it away…. Felt like too much money for something that only lasted a matter of months :-(

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Topiary dog They continually are made worse each one I buy! Cheaper and don’t hold up.... way too much money for the quality
Date published: 2020-08-08
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Update I love these dogs and neighbors and passerby’s always stop and comment or ask if they can take pictures. Problem is after just after about a year they have shed their leaves. Very disappointing looking very rag tagged. We’re very expensive. Wish they would have weathered better. We even brought them indoors everynight

I am interested in the Casey dog but measurements seem huge. Could you check and make sure those measurements are correct?  41 inches wide sounds huge. Thank you.

I am interested in the faux Boxwood dogs but need to know how to clean off as I live in the Phoenix area and we get dust. Dogs would be on a covered entry porch for protected from sun but not dust.

Asked by: Surber
Thank you for your interest in the Faux Boxwood Garden Dog - Casey. These dogs will be best in a covered or shaded area. To clean them simply rinse with a garden hose and set out to dry.

I bought one of the topiary dogs in 2017. I love it! Lately it has started to break down. Rows of the greenery has started to come off. Has anyone else complained of this issue?

Asked by: Ruthie53
I have had the same problems with Casey.  He is unraveling.  I recently bought Spray Clear Gorilla Adhesive and sprayed him all over to avoid any more unraveling.  So far so good and seems to make sense.  He is so cute!  Hope this is helpful to you.

How wide is Casey’s neck?

Asked by: OneSmartCookie
Thank you for your interest in the Faux Boxwood Garden Dog - Casey. Casey's neck measures approximately 18.5" around so a medium sized collar should fit depending on the brand that you get.

casey, I understand the height, width, but the length???? does not appear that big in pic.

Asked by: rett
Thank you for your interest in the Casey Faux Boxwood Garden Dog. The length is from top of Casey's head to the ground. The height is from front to back, and the width is from left to right or front paw to front paw.
