It has a nice thickness and is soft on bare feet. The grey background color is lighter in person than online. The blues in the rug are also more robin's egg colored in person. I've also been pleased with the shedding. It does shed, as all wool rugs do, but this one is minimal in comparison to wool rugs I've had in the past. A quick vacuum once or twice a week is fine and there are not huge clumps of wool all over the rug and house. I am VERY pleased with this purchase. It was 100% worth it!
