Rated 5 out of 5 by from It’s big! It looked huge when it arrived....but now that we have plants and flowers in it, it’s really beautiful. The best part is how well the self watering works. My flowers are perfect this year and have been spared from my usual over and under watering patterns. It is an expensive item, but We have been very pleased with it and expect to have it many years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Planters I have two of this brand in the tall planters at our cabin and only water once per week. Work great. I am sure this planter will work just as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice planters. Need better information on website I purchased four large black planter boxes and they look great. Placed together they make an excellent low planter box retaining wall for a courtyard. The information on the website, unfortunately only gave exterior dimensions and the interior measurements are significantly different than those measurements represented on the website. I purchased the plant material the same time the order was shipped, so unfortunately they did not fit in the containers. The warning about potential weight limitations was also not on the website but very clearly stated in the packaging.

Will these planters survive outside in a Chicago winter

I want to put fake boxwoods in them and leave them out all year. Will they crack during winter?
Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your interest in the Devon Self-watering Patio Planter. This item is designed to be an all-weather planter and can be left out during the winter. However, we do recommend draining this item of water during winter months, even when using faux greenery. Please note, this planter should not crack in winter, but storing in a shed or garage does offer the best protection during extreme cold.

Can these be placed right next to each other to cover a patio seam?

If I buy 3 of these and want them to go side by side in order to cover a patio seam will they fit side by side? Or will there be a large, visible gap?
Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your interest in the Devon Self-watering Patio Planter. If you place three of these side by side, there will be visible gaps between them due to the molding around the top and bottom of these planters.

How does this self watering planter work?

Asked by: Anonymous
There's a trough at the bottom of the planter that holds water. You can either water directly through the dirt or through a hole on the top edge of the planter. Near the bottom of the planter on one side there is a tattle tale hole about a third of the way up that drains excess water so your plants are not over watered. The dirt slowly absorbs water from the bottom trough. I water once every two weeks for my planter that's in the shade and once a week for the one in the sun.
