Not what I expected
I bought three of these candles thinking they were the quality of the beautiful pink flameless candles that work with a remote. What a shock when I opened the boxes and the candles had a thin piece of film that waves back and forth when turned on. They work with a timer, not a remote. I think if you display these candles far away from view and not too close, you can pull it off. But, they are a little weird and not what I expected. You could never tell this by the photograph. I would not buy these again but did not want to take the time to return them.

Lighted candles look awesome
I bought these candles to use with the Grandinroad pillars. I got many compliments as to how real the flames look. They are in my living room and are set on a timer. I also have the grandinroad decorative candle rings that also dresses up the look.

Disappointed in appearance
Candle was wax and did function as advertised. BUT the "motion" flame looks like a cheap piece of paper flapping back and forth. Something that is made in art class in elementary school. The candles I purchased last year had an actual bulb that flickered. Looks much more realistic. This is another example of offering a cheap product instead of better quality. Same as replacing wool and cotton clothing with "polyester" a.k.a. PLASTIC! I cancelled backorder of 2 other candles with the cheap flapping flame.

Received a mixed group of candles...
I purchased 5 of the 3x4 candles. I received 5 3x4 candles, but 2 were of one type and the other 3 a completely different type. All 5 boxes indicated that same model number (147187 BIS). I'm assuming that the manufacturer is making a change and Grandin Road is emptying out old stock. To send a mixed group of candles that are so clearly different in operation is just poor customer service as no one would want to group these together. Customer service said it would be mid-January to have them re-sent and they couldn't guarantee which (both?) I would receive.
With respect to the candles themselves, since I have no idea which are the 'new' ones and which are the 'old', I'll just say this. If the two I received are the new, then I'd recommend them, but if the 3 I received are the new, then I wouldn't.

Good quality
Bought candles for my sconces and they work well. I like that they have a timer built in. They do take a lot of batteries but since they are in the dining room and won’t be used much they will last a long time.

Super realistic, love the timer, love the flame
I'm buying more of these right now! So impressed with this candle and am hoping that they are long lasting and durable (I do use them inside). The ONLY complaint I have is that the 4" candle (which uses AAA batteries vs. AA like the larger sizes) is a different color ivory than the bigger candles. The box says "ivory" but it really is close to white. So they do not match if you are trying a layered look. I'm posting a photo to show what it looks like. Beware of that. The flickering flame is awesome and I have no idea what the negative reviews are talking about -- there is a timer setting on all of these that works. 5 hours with a relight at the same time every day. Awesome.

This candle does not support a remote control. The description states battry operated with manual timer yet does not state does not support remote operation. Be aware of this. I thought the remote I ordered aside from the candle was at fault. Lost time and money trying to replace it only to finally figure it out on my own the cause. Expensive candle that does not come nor work with a remote.

What is the life expectancy of these candles?? I bought five in April and three have corroded around the batteries and no longer work!!! They were set on the timer and the batteries required changing approximately monthly.

Automatic timer, does that mean that if I turn them on at 8 they will turn on at the same time each day for 5 hours without me having to touch them again?
