Rated 5 out of 5 by from We’ll worth purchasing Very well made! When installed look just like the picture. Would definitely buy again

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Placement of the planters They are beautiful & you can purchase shorter ones than the other design. They do not have to be under a window. I have mine on either side of my garage door and they look fantastic. Once the flowers grow slightly they will match the larger one I have under a window on same side of house even though they are different patterns. No one would ever notice they are not exact same design.

How are these mounted? We have horizontal steel siding, live in a harsh, windy climate, and don't want to compromise the siding with screws.

Asked by: dakotagirl
Thank you for your interest in the Nantucket Window Planter. This planter included wall mount brackets that are designed to be screwed into a wall. When installing on siding we recommend first installing strapping to your siding and then attaching the brackets to the strapping.

How easy is it to remove the box from the brackets and what do the brackets look like sitting on the house if I took the boxes down for the winter?

Asked by: Elizabeth

This planter simply sits on the wall brackets and under the lip at the top of the brackets and can easily be removed from the brackets. The brackets are black, metal brackets that will stick out from your house even without the planter on them.

What can I use to clean the dirt from the outside of the white Nantucket window boxes?

Asked by: Gardener
Common sense tells me...Since it's a pvc material, do not use anything abrasive. Use a soft sponge and water...maybe some plastic cleaner (used for outdoor furniture) if a lighter colored box gets stains on it. be gentle as to not ruin the finish or leave swirl marks in the plastic ;)

Watering System/Liner

Do plants and soil go directly into the window box or into a liner? Is a liner provided? Is use of a liner or use of no liner required for self-watering? Can you send the packing sheet so I can see? How can you tell when it is time to water? Christine in CT
Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your interest in the Nantucket Self-watering Window Planter. There is no linger required for this item. The double-walled polyethylene construction evenly distributes water to roots. Regular watering will be required for the first few weeks while plant's roots develop; then only occasional watering is needed.

Which 'red' is accurate?

I would like to order the red window planter, however, I am not sure which color sample online to trust. The picture of the planter itself shows a brighter red color, whereas the sample color of red shows something more rustic, like a barn red. Which one is the true red color?
Asked by: Heather
Thank you for your interest in the Nantucket Self-watering Window Planter. The red color option is a bright, saturated red color.

How do I get the water out from within the planter?

When I take the plug out and turn it upside down the water then goes to the top of the planter inside.
Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your interest in the Nantucket Self-watering Window Planter. To provide direct access to the water reservoir we recommend drilling a 3/4" hole in the top or back side of the planter as described in the instructions. This hole should then be covered with the included rubber plug. Once this is done the water can be drained, if needed, by removing the plug and turning the planter so the hole is down.

Do I need to place stones in bottom for drainage?

Asked by: Lauren
I used a liner in mine since it's in an awkward spot for me to get to. However I believe the instructions tell you to use wood chips if I'm not mistaken. I've used styrofoam pieces in other planters and it works great so that would be an option.
