Beautiful chairs!
I bought four of these chairs and my husband and i work to put them together. We have two done and two still in the boxes! I believe i read that it was just a small job to put them together but its more than that! The first one took my reading blow by blow the instructions and the two of us working to complete it and it took around 45 minutes! the second one took half an hour. They are really nice but i wish there were foot rests that would match them. Im short so when i sit in the chair i would like a place to put my feet up instead of dangling down. You dont sitbon these big chairs you sit down into them like you would a chaise, so a foot rest is missing( in my opinion) we are still waiting for the pads to arrive hopefully within a week. Till then we will have to manage over the fourth of July without chair pads. They are sturdy and lovely to look at.

Beautiful, but...
I just got two of these chairs. For some reason--I suspect security software that I ended up turning off--I could not see the reviews before I purchased them and I might have reconsidered if I'd seen them. I called customer support to put in my order and I specifically asked if the chairs came assembled or if they needed assembly. I had not read the online description--only the hardcopy catalog, which does not indicate any assembly. The CSR assured me the chairs came pre-assembled. We discussed this at length because I wondered why they weren't shipped via freight. When two flat boxes showed up, I was not thrilled to say the least.
Okay, so they aren't the first pieces of furniture I've assembled. I lined up all the parts and pieces and made sure everything was there. I checked the time and got started. So far I only assembled one chair. That one took over an hour. It's not that it's more difficult than any other furniture assembly, but there's no pre-assembled parts so you're basically building the whole chair short of cutting the pieces. This chair didn't have any problems with holes lining up so it was pretty good that way. I did take my time to be sure not to scratch the finish. The biggest complaint I have about it is with the little tabs that fill in the holes at the end. They either fall out or they don't fit in. Most of them were on the too big side so it was difficult to get them to stay put long enough to be able to bang them into place. The last hole was too big so the tab kept falling out. Fortunately the extra one was bigger so it fit and I was lucky.
My note about the chair overall is that it is massive--made for big people, which I am not. The color is much darker blue than the catalogs--to me less "Neptune" and more true navy blue, which is okay by me. It's a good looking chair. In a way, I almost wish I could use it inside, but they're for poolside. I live in Florida where the sun is brutal so it will be interesting to see if it holds up. My seat cushions are backordered so I'm not rushing to assemble the second chair because I won't be using the chairs before the cushions come in because they just aren't comfortable otherwise.

I purchased two chairs over two years ago. I’ve kept them inside and only bring outside when needed which is a real pain. But it’s obvious that these are not made to withstand outside weather. My only disappointment is they do not have covers you can buy so you can leave outside and they’re protected. I also purchased the cushions. Didn’t want white but that all they had. With the cushion, the chairs are extremely comfortable. I also found them comfortable without. As far as assembling, I was 66 years old when I purchased these, 5’ 3” and 120 lbs. I assembled these chairs myself without any problems other than what you normally encounter assembling anything. The instructions were excellent. The only time I found dowels or screws didn’t fit was when I was trying to force it in the wrong piece. The only reason I wouldn’t recommend these chairs is because you cannot purchase a quality cover. They are beautiful and comfortable.

Good look but not comfortable
Love the look the of them but they are not comfortable. They were also difficult to put together. Many of the holes didn't match up so you had to put some muscle into it.

Sad to report....
We purchased 2 of these chairs 2 years ago to have around our fire pit. We used them a few times during the summer/fall, and then put them in our garage to store for the winter. My husband just got them out and put them back around the fire pit, and the first time someone sat in one, the leg broke off. The wood is totally rotted, to the point that we can’t even reinforce them to try to keep them for a little longer.
Also, after one season outside, the paint looked awful and we had to sand and restain. We live in Ohio, so there’s not a whole lot of extreme weather. I’m sad that these chairs didn’t hold up better.

Looks great
Bag of screws had some bolts missing. Very difficult assembly. Love the look, sturdy but one bolt split the wood when hammering together. Wish the holes matched up better and assembly was easier. Need white glove for this

wood rots outdoors
Bought these years ago. They are quite heavy so I did not bring them inside. First off they arrived with a broken arm, which was replaced immediately. But after 5 years the wood has rotted, a few slats have broken, and the base on one of them is also broken. Too much to pay for great looking but UNCOMFORTABLE outdoor chairs.

Not worth the money!!!
My husband and I bought four of these chairs and two tables that match. We are very disappointed in both. One of the chairs arms split right down the center and the tables both have hugh chips in them. And this was the first summer that we used them. It's very dishearing that we paid all that money and the first summer this happens. We may never buy anything again from Grandinroads.

I love this chair.... But I do not use it as intended for outdoor use. It is in my bedroom along with the chair cushion as shown. I chose the blue and the cushion is white. Both are exactly as shown and advertised. If you are in need of a comfortable chair this is it. I can't really comment on the durability because like I said it is in the bedroom and gets very little use. There are other chairs at Grandin Road with similar design and I personally think all would be just as comfortable as this one.

Slippery without cushion
Loved the catalog pic but after assembling got in chair and quickly slipped forward in a heap. I felt like a tiny child trying out a grownup ‘s chair! It definitely could use a cushion! Especially at your back!

Worst purchase ever
Terrible quality. Had less than 1 year (only two seasons -summer and fall). We covered them all winter too. We’ve had to glue knobs on which keep falling off/out. Additionally, all chairs have cracks throughout various areas of chair. For the price, I can’t believe they keep this in inventory. Hugely disappointed they won’t allow us credit or come take these back themselves. We’ve had to contact them for various parts already and they want you to send entire chair back in packaging vs a part. We should have threw in towel long time ago. Photos attached.

Not worth the money
Bought 2 of these chairs 5 years ago, foot stool rotted out last year, just threw the other foot stool and chairs out rotted away, even with polyurethaning every year not worth the price. They should be discontinued or Grandin road should tell the customers that they are not for outdoor use. Very disappointing.

Very stylish!
We bought 4 of these chairs a month ago to sit on a patio around our outdoor fireplace. They look great and we get lots of compliments one them. However, they are not real comfortable to sit in unless you have a pillow to support your back because they scoop down so deeply.

Falling apart and paint chipping
Big buyers remorse. The knobs keep falling off the chairs and grandinroad won’t just send you the tiny screws, they have to send you whole new chairs. What a mess the package up the old chairs when we only need the small screw knobs. Next, we ordered these July 2018 and the paint was all chipped after first fall rain. We live in Minnesota and if it can weather rain, I was really worried about winter. Just took cover off of them today and chairs are all damp with pain further peeling off. What a mess. I can only guess that they’ll want us to take all 4 chairs apart and ship them back. Just a mess and not worth the money spent. They sure looked good for the first month....

We bought 2 of the denim blue chairs in July. Took about an hour to put together. I was worried about the blue color but it is lovely and a nice garden accent. They are sitting outside in partial/direct sun and 6 months later they still look wonderful. We bought the cushions too but bring them in when not using. They are so comfortable we are buying 2 more. Love these chairs. Wish there was a matching blue demin ottoman. Regret is not buying 4 originally.

I have 4 of these chairs that were delivered last summer. All the legs are failing. 3 of the 4 are broken. I’m 170 pounds, my wife is 120 and my daughter is under 100. All have experienced chairs breaking underneath. Need to get these replaced. help.
