I have a sealed container that I keep inside the bin. This keeps food fresh & air tight. The extra space can be used for storage.

There is no seal, so yes the food could get stale or be exposed to humidity. I have a large sealed container inside the food bin. I scoop the food out of that, and use the extra space for storage.

There are pre-drilled holes on the left side. You could fill them in with white caulking, and drill holes on the right to attach the leash hooks

The drawers are about 4 inches high. I have a Mastiff and a Jack Russell. Great for Mastiff as he was previously eating closer to floor. Your Yorkies can put their paws up and eat not sure. Hope I was helpful.
