My husband and I found it a bit difficult to put together due to the weight, and the instructions were hard for us nearsighted old people to read. However, it is well constructed and sturdy, and it's my favorite place to drink my coffee in the morning and a cocktail at night. And even to nap on! I made the cushion myself.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Why not from Not really a Glider If you are thinking this is like your grandmother’s sofa glider of yesteryear…. It is not. Although I do like this sofa, it’s misleading to call it a glider. It’s more like a rocking sofa. The movement is not a straight glide but a hinged rocking back feeling. And in fact you feel like you can flip over backwards if your weight is not positioned properly. I wonder if others find this to be so? I can’t imagine that I assembled it incorrectly. Yes the instructions were not so great. But each part was clearly labeled. And the rocker arms were already attached when it arrived, so unless the arms were assembled wrong at the factory—- I don’t know. All in all, it is very attractive, heavy and sturdy. It’s very enjoyable to sit on. It definitely needs a seat cushion and pillows for added seating comfort.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Gary A from Retro Glider Review This is a well-made but somewhat poorly designed glider that was well packaged, delivered in a timely fashion, and was easily assembled despite somewhat confusing directions. Poorly designed because the back of the glider slopes away from the seat at such an angle as to be uncomfortable. The obtuse angle causes you to lean back too far in relationship to the seat. Wedge-shaped pillows for the back are definitely a necessity in order to sit comfortably. The directions are confusing because the picture of how to assemble the back of the glider to the already assembled seat and arms have the location of the washers and nuts reversed. If you have any mechanical ability or sense of logic you will realize the mistake they have made and simply assemble the back in the same sequence as the seat and arms were assembled. If you rely solely on the directions for this part of the assembly you will be in big trouble and will be unable to complete the assembly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Nancy PF from Lovely Glider...but beware! This glider is lovely, very sturdy, and well made. It arrived packaged really nicely. The website description says “some assembly” … but beware! The assembly is a challenge. Using a ratcheting socket set is a must, and will save the assemblers several hours. As mentioned in previous reviews (which seem to have disappeared from this site), the assembly instructions are not well written. In fact, there are errors, and following the incorrect instructions cost this assembler several hours of frustration. Grandin Road customer service department is now aware of the errors in the instructions, and will hopefully share corrections with the next customer who tries to follow the instructions as written. I was hoping that Grandin Road would appreciate my helping them out by correcting the errors, but no luck. Oh well, the glider is indeed lovely. If the assembly were not so challenging, this would be 5 stars.

Rated 3 out of 5 by CLNF from Not a glider I've always wanted a glider like my aunt had on her front porch when I was a child. I was thrilled to find this one, even as pricy as it is, but I assumed it would be awesome since it's from Grandin Road. We've loved Grandin Road for years, but this was a big disappointment. Negatives: Unfortunately it isn't a glider; it’s a rocker sofa, which isn’t what I wanted. As other reviews have stated, the angle is strange and you can actually flip almost completely backwards in it. Positives: It’s pretty. It’s heavy duty and seems to be well made. It isn’t too difficult to put together, although it definitely requires two people. I'll keep looking for a real glider. and end up selling this rocker sofa. I really hope GR will correct the listing to call it a rocker instead of a glider, so more folks won't be misled.
