Scarecrow Figure 3.9 5 16 16
New and Improved I bought this guy last year because I was dying to add a scarecrow to our pumpkin patch display. Overall I was very pleased, but I'm happy to see that Grandin Road listened to many of the reviewers who complained about the overall appearance. This year's new and improved model features pants (last year's had none and showed too much of the pole) and a matching straw hat. I was able to hide the pole behind some pumpkins and hay, but seeing this year's model makes me wish I had waited, especially since they're the same price. Hopefully GR also fixed the voice activated sound box into a photo sensor; you either had to scream or clap really loud to get this guy to talk. Still a great purchase and I'm very happy to see GR appreciates and listens to the feedback they receive. July 25, 2013
Life Size Animated Scarecrow Hi everyone: This is Mr. Kipps. I just finished putting up the Scarecrow. He looks very frightening at over six feet tall. There are other Scarecrows on the market today, but this one ranks with the best of them. He simply goes perfectly with my Fall Scene of pumpkins and leaves. He blends in quite well. He does exactly as Grandinroad says, and is activated by sound (His eyes light up). The only defect I found, is you must stuff him with plastic bags to fill him out and his face lights up entirely when the eyes light up. Grandinroad should look into having his eyes light up only, instead of the entire face to improve this Scarecrow. Still, he is one scary dude and if you forget he's there in the room, could make for a very frightening experience. As I said in the beginning, "This guy, ranks with the best scarecrows on the market today and you will not go wrong in buying this guy, if you decide a scarecrow is what you need to complete your Halloween lineup for this year." Happy Halloween everyone and good Haunting. October 10, 2013
Skinniest Startling Scarecrow :-) He is delivered in a smaller box than expected for a 6FT figure but he certainly is a large & looming figure assembled! Not tricky to put together at all but you do have to be careful with the pole and his clothes b/c they are very thin and frayed for effect. Battery pack is attached to the base of his head which is a bit tight to get to. Per another comment, depending on the weather I would secure the base with something also b/c the figure is 6FT but he is very lightweight. When he is activated, his eyes light up and he speaks loudly and clearly with his amusing phrases and laughter. We will need to stuff him a bit but we can't use plastic bags because his pant legs are so sheer you will see any ink on the plastic bags so we might have to crumple some brown paper bags to fill him out. What I did notice is if you spread his posable arms out a certain way, it will draw him out width wise but he still needs a filler of some sort. October 21, 2013
Pefectly creepy Just received this scarecrow and I gotta say -- overall I love him! He is incredibly easy to assemble, sounds and looks so creepy! He actually scared me when I took my dog out and I knew he was there! Just like another reviewer, I did need to "fatten" him up a bit to make him little a little more menacing. His stand is also a little unstable so it makes it difficult to support him on a grassy surface. We started our Halloween decorating early this year and we found him toppled over this morning from the wind. We are going to go out and buy a stake to stick him directly in the ground. Overall, he was a great buy for the money and are happy with our purchase! September 10, 2013
really cool! needs some work. This scarecrow is awesome! It looks awesome and goes perfectly surrounded by pumpkins on the front porch. The only con was that his body, mainly the legs, had no stuffing and well looked bad, not to say that i didn't love it! Just know before you buy that some stuffing will be needed in his legs and chest (i used grocery bags) also holds up outside in the wind. October 3, 2013
Great Purchase Just received the scarecrow and he is great. He is well made and looks realistic. He does need some stuffing for his pants to make him look more robust. Great purchase for the money. Can't wait for him to scare everyone this year. August 13, 2013
Good, but also not so good Scarecrow himself is nice-- although I agree with some other posts that you need to add newspaper to his legs/arms to "fill him out" --- the only real complaint I have (and this is a MAJOR one) - is his Stand - its AWFUL. I have many other stand up props from Grandin Road and they all have good stands.. his is TERRIBLE. His posts "just" fit together, so if you pick him up to move him, his stand comes apart. Other than that, I do like this prop veyr much October 29, 2013
Spooky Scarecrow Looks better in person. Needs sandbags or bungee cords on stand base if displayed outside in the wind. He has a loud, deep voice that is clear and easy to hear. His clothes look good but are thin, I added wadded brown craft paper. Newspaper and plastic bags do not work well for him. For the price he is one of the better scarecrows on the market. Kids and adults both like him. He fits in well with a pumpkin scene. It appears he will hold up for a few years. October 28, 2013
