Lighted Staked Halloween Ghosts, Set of Three is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 114.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality for the Money I purchased these when they were first introduced at Grandin Road. They have held up well. We put on a Halloween display and the children (and adults) love them. They are fun and whimsical and make for a nice yard display.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice decorations, but could be great with changes First, I will say that the quality of the fabric on the ghosts is really nice. We've had three of these for two Halloweens, and they've therefore spent about 2 months outside. They still look great. People always comment that they love them (we hang them from fishing wire in a tree in the front yard). We don't light them until Halloween, because I like to hang them up high and have to get a stepstool out to turn them on. I used a safety pin to grab as much of the fabric as I could to hang them up. One of the clear plastic molded ghost heads tore from the fabric (I wasn't using the stake to stake it in the ground as intended), but I fixed this with a glue gun. All this said, I would LOVE It if these had a timer so they would come on every night. I love that they are battery operated, but they would be great with a timer. I'd also like to see a version made specifically for hanging in the trees, with a little hook that we could thread the fishing wire through. For that to work, the fabric would have to attach to the clear mold differently, but it could be done. I've actually considered trying to attach a battery operated votive or some other light source with a timer so I can make them operate like I described. Overall, I'd recommend. But i would love to see GR make some adjustments so they have a timer at least.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from ghosts I am a little concerned that wet weather will weaken the cardboard fixture that holds the light. Also, wish they were remote controlled so I don't have to go out and turn them off/on.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cute, but..... I agree with the last post shown (2014). The ghosts are so unique, but they are a lot of work to set up if you live in the north. The ghosts gauze skirts have to be anchored down in many places in order to make them look full, and to keep them from blowing in the autumn wind. If you live in the south, this might be a good purchase with a lesser chance of the skirts of the ghosts becoming muddy from all the rain we get here in the fall. The illumination in the heads died the first season. One of the previous posts mentioned that the stakes were originally longer, then the manufacturer chose to save $$$ by using less metal by making the stakes shorter. That's a bummer! Sure bet that the cost to purchase the ghosts didn't decrease, as a result of this!!!!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Didn't perform that well Glad I didn't pay full price for this set of ghosts. Although it added to our Haunted House feature, the one ghost didn't light up and another ghost had a broken stake. Ended up having to hang them in a different way than how the product was originally designed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stakes too short I bought 2 sets of these ghosts 10/2/2014. The stakes were 35" long giving plenty of room to put stakes in dirt and the ghost stand up about 35" (including head) off ground. Looked great. Ordered another set this year. STAKES ONLY 28" long. By the time you put the stake in the ground 3-4", the ghost barely stand off the ground. Looks like midget ghosts. The fabric just puddles in the dirt. Looks terrible. SIX Inches was a critical cut in manufacturing! Shameful.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Neighbors gave lots of compliments. They look great when they stay in the ground. The neighborhood moms and kids love them. The stake is not pointed enough to hold ghost firmly in ground. The on off switch is small and flimsy and difficult to locate with out taking ghost off pole and looking for it. One of the switches broke on mine, so I need to use a toothpick to flip the switch. Even with these negatives I would recommend the product because they are so cute!

would it be easy/possible to hang these from a tree branch, or do they need to be placed on the ground?

Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your interest in the Lighted Staked Halloween Ghosts, Set of Three. These ghosts are supported by the stake under them and cannot be hung from a tree. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

How do these fair in adverse weather conditions?

We typically get heavy rain or snow around Halloween. Can they withstand this weather or would they be damaged?
Asked by: emmiller
I live in North Carolina. We do not get snow during October but we can get very severe thunderstorms (read Hurricane!), They were blown over but were otherwise undamaged, I've used mine for 5 years and they still look great,

are they on a timer?

Asked by: Anonymous
No, but it would be so great if they were! I have had these for two Halloween seasons, and actually hang them in a tree using fishing wire. This year, I'm actually considering trying to attach one of those LED battery-operated timer lights for jack-o-lanterns so I can run it on a timer.

How do you store these ghosts, do they collapse?

Asked by: BB
I saved the plastic bags they came in and restore them in the bags, and then together in a trash bag in my basement. You would want them in a box if you're worried about the little molded heads getting crushed.

Can we get extra batteries to keep the lights going?

Asked by: Anonymous
The answer is yes, LR44 batteries, available in many hardware and other stores, and somewhat cheaper online. But as pointed out, they only last 3-4 hours and are relatively expensive. I got tired of replacing them so I bought a 4-AA battery pack and replaced the battery container that comes with the ghosts. Now they run for many nights on standard AA's. Replacing it was easy; bear in mind I'm no electrical guru, just an average Joe. Remove the base from the plastic dome to expose the internals, then unscrew the cardboard base from the light/electrical unit. The existing battery pack easily snaps off. Use a very small standard screwdriver to remove the battery terminals from the battery pack and the wires are easily exposed. The red wire is very short so I threaded the wires back through the cardboard base to get a little extra working length. The wires are extremely thin - thinner than a 20-22 gauge wire cutter - so just gently pinch off about 1/2 inch of wire coating to expose a bit more metal wire. I just twisted the exposed wires to the wires on the battery pack and double-wrapped with electrical tape. I attached the battery pack to the bottom with a hot glue gun. Reassemble and enjoy.

what are the colors of the lights in the ghosts and do they automatically come on?

Asked by: Anonymous
