Swinging Bat is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 41.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Swinging Bat is a must have for Halloween! This is my 2nd purchase of the swinging bat. They are large and can really scare people when they go off. The detailing is great. The only thing I wish it had was a volume control.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worthless This bat, along with every other item that needs batteries, is a waste of effort. I returned mine after finding it was impossible to unscrew the minuscule screw to remove the battery cover. I have a tiny Phillips head screwdriver, but even with That I could not turn the screw. I recommend not buying anything from Grandinroad that needs a battery because all of the battery covers are the same.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from GOING BATTY! I have two of these characters. After figuring out how to correctly hang them (could be easier), they ended up outside hanging out together over my deck. They are very effective, but the real bats that live up in the front of my house, are NOT impressed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bat's gone wild. This was a great addition to my fireplace last Halloween. He scared a few that sat too close.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Need reinforced metal mounting plates!! Didn't realize that this prop had such specific mounting requirements. Don't happen to have a 2X4 beam running across the entry where I'd like to have this decoration. If it doesn't have a flat surface it's not going to mount properly and if that flat beam is not anchored securely, the whole display will move around until it falls apart. Not my favorite purchase from Grandin Road

How is this mounted in entryway? trying to avoid unnecessary holes in walls

Asked by: gwm
They provide a velcro strip but it is useless as it does not adhere. Will need to find an alternative way to hold up

Where is the sensor?

If it is hanging in an entrance way how is the sensor going to be activated? Is the sensor on the box that hangs at the top of the bat??
Asked by: Kady
Yes, the sensor is in the box, facing the same way as the bat faces. It is triggered by sound-- a moderately loud voice, a finger snap, a knock on the door all will trigger it. It is tougher, but not impossible, to trigger the sensor from the opposite side of the bat, so you should try to hang it facing toward the source of the noise (e.g., face it toward the door where the kids will knock).
