How does this sit in the ground? Is it a single pole or is there an actual base that would keep it from leaning if the wind blows?

Asked by: CrazyCraftyMom
Thank you for your interest in the Towering Reaper. This item is built on a frame which attaches to the ground with the 3 included stakes.

How does it break down to store?  Just making sure it will fit in a large to store after Halloween.

Asked by: Ollysmom
It comes in a relatively small box and has to be put together.   Once you dismantle the figure (there are poles that fit together to give the Reaper height), it can easily be stored in a closet.

I bought the towering reaper or something years ago and my metal pole broke that attaches to the head.  Is there any way that I can purchase a replacement stand?

Asked by: jlkirch

How do I secure the tripod to the ground with the included spikes?  There are no instructions including the spikes, and there are no holes in the tripod for passing through the spikes.

Asked by: ChicagoBarb

How does that stand indoors if stakes cannot be driven into the ground?

Towering Reaper is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 60.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect addition! The neighbors love our towering Reaper. Plan to buy two more next year

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Creepy and Cool The neighborhood kids love our reaper. We like that the height is adjustable - we have it at full height. The eyes are battery operated and do not have a timer capability (that would be a recommendation for future versions), but they are LED so lasting quite a long time. The one con on this is that it is super lightweight and blows over with the slightest breeze. We have it on our porch which is fairly protected from the elements, but still find it tipped over now and again. My husband was creative with some weights to help solve that issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Spooky towering ghost It is awesome! Survived the first 2 night of heavy winds and rain and he’s a nice addition to my “Halloween family”!! Very spooky looking in the dark.... very happy with my purchase!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Ghoul!! Easy to put up and very scary. Most decorations I get from Grandin road are well made and not cheaply made like most Halloween stuff. Love everything I get from here!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous Fright! This is terrific! We put it up in the house to see how it would look and we couldn't be happier. It will look amazing in the graveyard haunt this October! It's very simple to move from shorter to taller height, and we'll have fun changing the height daily when in the yard to surprise/startle everyone who walks by daily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Towering reaper I just received the reaper and it is amazing. It is very tall. It looks especially impressive and spooky in a room with the high ceilings. I would not however use it outside - the pole and stakes are made from sturdy metal. But due to its size, it may be difficult to properly stabilize the reaper, so it would not fall on a windy day.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The creep is real! Love this guy. The only criticism I have is that it’s top heavy & likes to fall over, the base is a simple stand. If you put something heavy on the stand, you’ll have no trouble keeping it upright. Unless you have a ninja cat who likes to protect the family from scary ghosts, like me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Only one Reaper per order It shows two in the picture but you are only purchasing one. Good quality and easy to set up

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fabulous ghost I bought this ghost several years ago. It's really spectacular! Passers by loved it. However, the October wind was a problem and would blow the ghost over. I finally drove an iron post into the ground and zip-tied the ghost's support to it. That solved the problem, and then, someone STOLE it!!! I'm very happy that Grandin Road is offering it again so I can replace it. It is truly an awesome decoration.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really cool spook! The Towering Reaper was awesome. I say ‘was’ because sadly, it was murdered by a bear. During the five whole days I had it outside, I did have to re-adjust it twice due to windy conditions until I figured out the best way to keep it secure. It was staked, and twine was used to keep it against the tree. I also had to tie more twine around one of the foam arms and strategically attach it to the tree or it would spin around with wind. The reaper is better suited to indoor use due to the flimsy frame, but if you’re willing to add additional items to hold it to a tree, it makes an awesome outdoor prop- but be warned; if you live near woods, a bear might attack it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cool looking. These look cool. The only issue I have is that the switch to the eyes are all the way on its head and standing at 8 feet tall and if you plan to stake it into the ground outside, that would make it difficult to easily turn it on and off. I was hoping it would have a timer like the witches at least, but it doesn’t.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from REAPER JUST OK Somehow this looks better in the catalog and online. Of course their photo is very atmospheric. It’s all right, just nothing special. Pretty high price for only a metal pole and draping material. Glad I didn’t pay full price. Guess I like it well enough. I didn’t return it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice but dirty I really like this decoration after the initial unboxing but I find it annoying that sometime during the manufacture/packing that someone stepped on the white fabric and left a giant dirty boot print. The long balck hairs stuck to it are also cringe worthy but I suppose it's not worth the time to return.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Towering Reaper Issues So, on arrival this display is fantastic. It's huge when deployed at full size. My issues came when I tried to display it outside. I already read that the Reaper was hard to keep upright, but I used the supplied hardware and it wasn't going anywhere. The issue that came up was the top extended portion keep blowing off until finally it snapped off. The fittings are plastic and couldn't stand the force. So, if you purchase be careful outside and I would recommend using it indoors only.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Towering reaper Very dissapointed in the quality of this product! Too much fabric made it hard to put together, Then trying to put the bar through for the stand, bar went thru the cheap fabric & tore the face, Lights didnt work at all. I've purchased many products of halloween haven but not pleased at all with this product, for the price a cheap item! Dont want to pay shipping cost to send it back...

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Towering Reaper The head won't stand up straight because it isn't attached to the top pole. The stitching on the neck and head came apart when I tried to get the head to stand up straight. Ended up using white duct tape to shore up the head and patch the torn seams. Looks OK now, but I don't expect it to last one season outdoors in wind and rain. The telescopic stand is very flimsy and unstable when extended, so it will have to be tied off to a tall stake to keep it from blowing over. Overall, looks cool, but I don't expect it to last outdoors.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Ghost has issues Not sturdy at all… slight wind will take it down due to the height and the base not being wide enough… Better be willing to tie it off to a tree or do some major staking

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed, but hopeful After a 3 month wait, (ordered in September, arrived in December) my first of 2 Reapers has finally arrived! I liked the look of him, but his main poles won't connect. Where you push the bead button in on one pole, it should marry up with the hole in the other pole, but they don't match up. We'll see how the other one does when it arrives...darn (I'm also interested in seeing if the tripod base is going to be wide enough to hold him up. I was hoping for a hollow pole I could slide over a spike in the ground, but the pole's solid.)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The quality ofTowering Reaper It's flimsy and falls over easily. Also it's just a bunch of White sheets on a stick. The arms are thin and flimsy. Very over priced for this type of quality I returned mine.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not waste your money Purchased 2, and returning both today. Quality is extremy cheap and flimsy. Reapers are not suitable for outdoor use unless you live in an area with no wind and no rain. Save yourself the $ and purchase a cheap tripod, a styrofoam head, and lots of white, filmy fabric.
